A Complete Solution for Bowed Basement Wall Repair and Stabilization

Fortress Stabilization carbon fiber systems are engineered and tested to provide the strongest anchoring system and stabilization available. After years of compliance testing, Fortress is fully accredited by the International Code Council and has earned the ICC-ES stamp of approval. In conjunction with specially formulated high-strength epoxy repair, the Carbon Fiber-Kevlar Grid strap Stabilization system provides the strength necessary to stabilize a severely cracked or bowed poured or block concrete wall. The carbon fiber installation method eliminates the need for I-beams and tiebacks making it less intrusive than other wall reinforcement measures and more cost-effective. The Fortress Carbon-Kevlar strap consists of straight fibers eliminating flex when force is applied. This unidirectional fiber design by Fortress is a product twice as strong as products on the market that use woven carbon fibers which crimps the fibers thus reducing the effectiveness when they try to straighten under force. There are over 8,000 epoxy rivets securing a single Fortress carbon fiber strap to a wall. Fortress is truly the industry leader with its top and bottom wall anchor system as well.

Kevlar Necktie for Top Wall Anchoring

Fortress Stabilization was the first company to develop a Kevlar Necktie Top Wall Anchor that is mechanically fastened to the rim joist, not the sill plate, to ensure the top anchor and wall are engaged under tension providing a stronger, more durable anchor and preventing the wall from future movement.

Floor Sheer Anchors for Bottom Wall Anchoring

Fortress Stabilization also has the best bottom anchor in the industry. The bottom of a basement wall is where shear forces are the greatest. Fortress Stabilization took the American Concrete Institutes' recommendation for anchoring carbon fiber straps and made it even better to be the best in the industry because strength is most important. Fortress Stabilization’s bottom anchors are 5 times thicker and 125 times stiffer than any other products on the market. They use a dual solution with a specific contact length engineered to achieve 200% safety factor to secure the carbon fiber strap to the foundation to prevent shear slides.

ADVANTAGES:

Not all carbon fiber is created equal.

Before considering another carbon fiber system, ask how their fibers are arranged. Conventional manufacturers commonly weave carbon. This produces an attractive woven pattern, but this method also crimps the fibers while going over and under each other. When force is applied to a woven pattern, the bent fibers try to straighten out, which reduces effectiveness.

What does “ICC certified” mean?

The International Code Council (ICC) was formed in the 1990s by the three major U.S. regional building code agencies and developed the current International Building Code. This code is used to protect public health and building safety throughout the United States and in countries around the world. ICC developed its Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) to certify that products intended to be installed in a home or business are safe and are building code approved. Certification by the ICC-ES means a product and its manufacturing process have been tested, evaluated and regularly audited by ICC to meet or exceed product performance reliability. Fortress obtained ICC-ES certification through a rigorous testing process performed by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory at the University of Miami, Structures and Materials Laboratory. The ICC-ES certification identifies Fortress Stabilization Systems as a premier building product manufacturer able to produce consistent and reliable product performance.

Lifetime Warranty & Certification: The Carbon Fiber-Kevlar Grid Strap Wall Stabilization system is backed by Fortress Stabilization’s lifetime warranty if installed by a contractor that has completed the Fortress Stabilization certification training.
